Imagine a spectrum: on one end there is nothing and on the other end there is everything- in between there is anything.  This is what artist Charlie Mylie, as Pop Up Charlie, has been drawing for people since 2013.  “Yes it’s true, Pop Up Charlie can draw anything for you!” – that’s what the sign next to him reads when he draws in public. Based in Kansas City, Missouri, Pop Up Charlie has been drawing around town at businesses, events, parties, fiestas, and happenings producing countless watercolor drawings to fulfill in-person requests. He is the in-house illustrator at the Rabbit Hole, the World’s First Explorastorium and has been the Artist in Residence at BNIM Architecture and Missouri Bank where he created drawings on special projects to connect with community visions.  Other organizations that made civic connections through his live drawings are LiveKC, Kansas City Public Television, and Nelson Atkins Museum of Art.  Charlie is currently interested in how drawings can be a first step in making visions realities.  He hosts Doodle Jamz open to kids weekly at the Kansas City Public Library, illustrates children’s books, and is making illustration part of social media dialogue.
